Judas Priest replaces Ozzy Osbourne in the Power Trip festival lineup

by admin

A day after Ozzy Osbourne announced his withdrawal from the Power Trip festival in Indio, California, fellow legendary actor Judas Priest has been appointed as his replacement.

In revealing that he is not physically ready to play an October gig, Ozzy states, “The band that will replace me on Power Trip will be announced soon. They are my personal friends and I can promise you you won’t be disappointed.”

This led to widespread speculation that Judas Priest would fill the void, as Osborne and Priest Rob Halford are very good friends.

It was officially announced on Tuesday (July 11) that Judas Priest had been cast to play the Saturday (October 7) bill alongside AC/DC.

“Power Trippers, are you ready for some Judas Priest-style heavy metal?” asked the band in an excited statement. “We are excited and ready to raise our double horns high together.”

The rest of the popular Power Trip line-up remained the same, with Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden performing on Friday night (October 6), and Metallica and Tool rounding out the three-day event on Sunday, October 8. Tickets are available here.

Osbourne has not played a full show since 2018. A series of health setbacks and an ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease forced him to cancel the remaining legs of his No More Tours 2 farewell tour. Among the outings that were canceled was a British/European jaunt that was to feature Judas Kahn as support.

Meanwhile, Judas Priest is putting the finishing touches on a new album, with guitarist Richie Faulkner recently saying, Serious consequences It is “almost done”. After celebrating their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022, the band currently have a UK/European outing scheduled for 2024. As of now, the Power Trip gig is their only 2023 show on their itinerary.
