Bob Dylan has announced that he will be releasing an album version of his iconic musical in 2021, Shadow kingdom. The record will be released on June 2 via Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings.
movie version of Shadow kingdom It premiered in July 2021 and featured a steady slate of songs from the first three decades of Dylan’s discography. Reimagined in a smoky pub noir (the fictional “Bon Bon Club”) and sung by an 80-year-old Dylan, the songs have a nostalgic warmth while still illuminating the modern context in which they were recorded, with mask-wearing band and all. Unpredictable, charming, and a musical delight, Dylan has been doing what he does best.
Joined by a stripped-down band from behind—including upright bass, accordion, and Big Thief’s Buck Meek on guitar—Dylan revisited songs like “When I Paint Your Masterpiece,” “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight,” “It’s Over Now, Baby Blue” and more.
album version of Shadow kingdom It will be available in digital, CD and 2 xLP vinyl formats. Featuring 13 songs from the original track listing, the album will also include “Sierra’s Theme”, an instrumental closer. Pre-orders are ongoing.
Along with the album announcement, Dylan also shared a Shadow kingdom Translate “Watch the river flow”. A rousing, soulful arrangement featuring updated lyrics and a classic Dylanesque vocal performance, the song captures the show’s energy and Dylan’s enduring ability to take his listeners on a journey. Dylan is set to be honored in an upcoming biopic directed by James Mangold and starring Timothée Chalamet. Last week, Mangold confirmed that Chalamet would be doing his own vocals for the part.
