Donald Glover has confirmed that he is in talks with Lucasfilm regarding the possibility of returning to the role of Lando Calrissian.
In a new interview with QGthe 39-year-old multiple-hyphen reflected how much he enjoys portraying a sweetheart star Wars character in 2018 Solo: A Star Wars Story. Referring to revenge for the role, he said, “We’re talking about it. That’s as far as I can tell without him.” [Lucasfilm president] Kathleen Kennedy haunts me.”
Lucasfilm first announced a TV series titled Lando in 2020, but has yet to reveal any major details outside of the general premise. While it’s unclear if Glover is talking about The Simien Project specifically, it’s pretty clear he’d like to reprise the role. He said “I’d love to play Lando again” QG. “It’s a fun time, being him. It just needs to be the right way to do it… I’m not interested in doing anything that’s a waste of time or just a paycheck, I’d rather spend time with people I enjoy. It has to be the right thing, Which I think it could be. Lando is definitely someone I’d like to hang out with.”
to star Wars Fans, the idea of Glover returning as Lando isn’t hard to imagine – in fact, this isn’t even the first time Glover has mentioned himself. In 2018, he revealed that he had many ideas for vehicles piloted by Lando, including an intergalactic sitcom that would be something of a “Fraser in the space.”
Beyond his role in star Wars canon, Glover has also made waves recently with his new TV show, swarm. Based on stories about Beyoncé and her fans – and writings from Malia Obama – the show has received critical acclaim. Watch the trailer for it here.
