“Every now and then cancer enters our world and crushes the lives of people who are dear to us,” Primus frontman Claypool told me in a press release. “Something like this happened a while ago with our dear friend Jimmy Hayward. Over the past two years, Jimmy has undergone several major surgeries to remove massive damage and then rebuild from a cancer that invaded his bones. With a wife and two young children on hand, Jimmy has shown incredible courage and perseverance In an incredibly challenging time.”
Claypool continued, “At this time we at Primus and some of Jimmy’s good friends in the music/entertainment world have decided to give ‘brother a hand’ and perform live in his honor and for his family. Please come and watch a one-off collaborative music event to celebrate our dear friend.”
Meanwhile, Claypool is gearing up for a 41-date tour with the reunited This Summer’s Frightened Flying Frog Brigade. The dates in Stateline, Nevada, begin May 17th. You can get tickets here.
