The institution, which will study its admissibility first, said the joint initiative referendum request, initiated by the left to challenge pension reform, was submitted on Monday to the Constitutional Council.
About 250 parliamentarians, deputies and senators, mostly from the left, have introduced the bill, while the reform has just been adopted in Parliament. The Council must verify its acceptance. Then the collection of citizens’ signatures can be opened, in an attempt to reach a tenth of the electorate, i.e. 4.87 million signatures, within nine months, to open the way for a referendum.
