Death, the new death metal band, former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson have announced their debut album, To hell and back. The title track is now available ahead of the June 2nd release date.
Forming Ellefson Dieth with former Entombed guitarist/vocalist Guilherme Miranda and drummer Michał Łysejko (ex-Headless) last year, the death of the unit/beat lineage is highlighted by “To Hell and Back”. Miranda and Chizico bring their former band’s extreme tendencies — synth vocals and techno beats, respectively — while Elfson docks on the low end as he often did in Megadeth.
“To Hell and Back is the song that best describes our individual and group journeys as professional musicians,” Miranda commented in a press release. “For an album to connect with the listener, it has to have a deep meaning, and that wraps up all of this moment for us. We’ve been to hell — and back!”
However, the album’s title could be a reference to the debacle that led to Ellefson’s removal from Megadeth. Other titles (“Wicked Disdain” and “Severance”) and a Mustaine-esque version of the song “Don’t Get Mad… Get Even!” They also have a personal bite to them, in terms of Ellefson’s current situation and his decision to line up multiple teams in the wake of his ouster.
To hell and back It was produced by Diet with mixing and mastering by Tomasz Zed Zalewski at Zed Studios in Chechlo, Poland. Of note, the band’s previous single “In the Hall of the Hanging Serpents” is included on the LP, and the track “Walk with Me Forever” promises Ellefson’s first lead vocal performance.
