HBO today unveiled the first teaser for white house plumbers, Upcoming political drama series starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux. He is scheduled to be sworn in on HBO in March 2023.
Based on the 2007 book Integrity: Good People, Bad Choices, and Life Lessons from the White House Written by Egil Krug and Matthew Krug, White House Plumbers It tells the story of E. Howard Hunt (Harrelson) and J. Gordon Liddey (Theroux), two Watergate masterminds who mistakenly blight Richard Nixon’s presidency despite their vain attempts to protect his reputation.
The trailer begins when Hunt and Lady meet Nixon advisor John Dean (Domnall Gleeson), who gives the pair a seemingly simple task: “Your new task is to make sure he wins this election,” he says. “Sabotage, espionage, infiltration. Abstract tactics. The same shit they do to us every election.”
“They” are of course a reference to the Democratic National Committee. And just in case it’s been a while since I took a US history class: Hunt and Liddy were instrumental in leading the Nixon administration’s 1972 storming of the DNC headquarters in the Watergate office building. As handlers of the five convicted robbers, their actions eventually led to Nixon’s resignation. While we all now know how this story ends, White House Plumbers Show us how it got started.
The miniseries also stars Lena Headey, Judy Greer, Ike Barinholtz, Kiernan Shipka, and Kathleen Turner. Watch the White House Plumbers Teaser below.
Last year, Harrelson also made a guest appearance on the eleventh season of the show Curb your enthusiasm. Theroux voiced the main male lead in the 2019 Disney+ remake Lady and the Tramp.
